Valentines Flyer 2013

Monthly Newsletter-February 2013

valentines day

January flew by, and I can’t imagine how fast February is going to go.  February is the shortest month and the only month with fewer than 30 days. February was introduced in the Roman calendar about 700 BE when the calendar was extended from ten to twelve months. Before that Romans considered winter a month less period.  February was named after Latin word februa, which means cleaning or purification. This represents purification ritual before spring.  February is the only month that can pass without a single full moon.  There are so many interesting facts about February, so I thought I would teach you a little bit about it!

February is a month dedicated to the heart, in more ways than one.  It has been associated with being a month of love.  Cards and candy are token gifts for the appreciation of love.  While being a month of love, February also brings focus to the heart.  February represents American Heart Month, the month to wear red and call attention to the prevention of the number one killer: heart.

From 1998 to 2008, the death rate of cardiovascular diseases declined by 30.6 percent. However, this by no means indicates that we’re out of the woods in terms of heart disease prevalence and risk.

Every year, close to 800,000 individuals experience a new or recurrent stroke and 475,000 have a recurrent heart attack. Therefore it’s that much more critical for healthcare professionals and first responders to equip themselves with the latest knowledge, trends and heart and stroke statistics that impact their delivery of emergency care.

Heart disease statistics: 2012 trends

  •  Obesity remains on the rise. More than two-thirds, 67.3 percent, of American adults are overweight or obese and 31.7 percent of children (ages 2-19) are overweight or obese.
  • Cardiovascular disease strikes in younger individuals. According to the American Heart Association’s Statistical Update, more than one in three American adults have one or more types of cardiovascular disease. High blood pressure is the most frequently seen disease in these individuals.
  • Deaths resulting from strokes are declining. From 1998 to 2008, the stroke death rate fell 34.8 percent, placing it as the fourth leading cause of death in the United States. Stroke was originally the third leading cause of death for Americans

On a happy note, if you have seen the last post we did–we are getting SOOOOO much new stuff in already for a spectacular 2013!!!!  I don’t even know where to begin!  I am so ahead of the game this year, it’s almost scary!

I went to market 3 weeks ago with a dear friend and business owner herself, Julie Wurr.  Wow!  Did we have fun or what!  It was an interesting ride up and back but non-the-less, we had a BLAST!  Lots of good laughs and good talks about each of our stores that were great to share!  There are a lot of things that you normal folk just wouldn’t understand unless you own a business and see how things really work around here, so it’s nice to talk to another business owner.  They have been there done that, so they can relate.

But I can sure tell you something, we have AWESOME stuff in the Salon and you need to come and check it out.  We will get you decked out to look your absolute best for your sweetie for Valentine’s Day.  If you come in and can’t find ONE thing that grabs your attention, you must be nuts!  :+)

Here is a peek of a few new pieces of clothing that just arrived!

The one thing that I really strive for when I’m on the hunt for goodies…..is PRICE.  Of course there is a lot of other factors, but in a town the size we are, you need to keep price in mind.  My philosophy when buying wholesale is to make sure that the selling price is no more than what I would pay for something if I was going shopping.  If I wouldn’t spend that kind of money, why should anyone else have to.  Lucky for you guys, huh!

Here is the perfect reason to get out and come check out the business’ in Laurens.  Tomorrow night, Thursday February 7th we are having Mocktails Cocktails again like we did last year.  It was a big hit so we are back by popular demand!  Come and do the shop hop and if you hit all 6 of the stores, we stamp them at each place and at the end of the night we are going to have a drawing with 6 WINNERS!!  There will be a winner from each store, how awesome is that!  Each store will be serving drinks and snacks, so don’t even worry about eating supper.  Supper’s on us tomorrow night!  Grab your friends, your spouse, your kids, and of course yourself and come SHOP LAURENS!!!!!!!!!

Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone!!  Isn’t it a great day today!  To most of us, it’s just another day.  I want to share some Valentine’s Day data that I found in my email!  Valentine’s Day is the first major holiday of the year and the perfect time to get your creative spirits stirring. Let us help you spread the love around and take full advantage of this holiday’s sale potential. We have provided you some interesting sales data related to Valentine’s Day from the annual RAMA (Retail Advertising and Marketing Association) Valentine’s Day Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey.
According to a 5-year comparison of the RAMA survey results, retailers of traditional Valentine’s Day cards, flowers, and food are seeing less consumer traffic each year, and retail jewelers are seeing more consumers choosing bling as the perfect Valentine’s Day gift. Here are a few of the findings from last year’s survey.

  • 58.1% of consumers celebrated Valentine’s Day
  • 9.3 billion dollars was the projected spending amount for the holiday season on gifts for spouses and significant others
  • 47.5% planned on purchasing candy as a gift
  • 34.3% planned on purchasing flowers as a gift
  • 17.3% planned on purchasing jewelry as a gift

With that said; how about since I am at work today–it’s Valentine’s Day—also my son Beckett’s FIRST Birthday—–ANYTHING THAT HAS SOME BLING ON IT IS 40% OFF TODAY ONLY to celebrate the holiday!  I will be here till 4 pm so come quick!
